Who We Are

THINCK is an independent digital publication, published by THINCK Media. We carry reporting, analysis, commentary, columns and satire on events in Kerala and across India.

We publish primarily in Malayalam and English, for readers in Kerala and across the global Malayalam diaspora.

What We Are For

THINCK exists to give readers independent, contextually rich journalism and sharp commentary on public life. We believe an informed public is essential to a functioning democracy, and we take that seriously.

We do not accept payment to publish editorial content. Our work is funded through digital advertising and reader support. Advertisers have no influence over what we publish.

Editorial Standards

These are the standards we hold ourselves to across our reporting:

• We seek to ground factual claims in public records, filings, official proceedings or credible reporting, and to identify that basis where we rely on it
• We aim to distinguish reporting from comment, and to make the character of a piece apparent from how it is written and where it appears
• We aim to write headlines that reflect the piece beneath them
• Where a matter is contested, unresolved or before a court, we aim to say so, and we do not treat an allegation as a finding
• Where we get something wrong, we correct it

Editorial Process

Work published on THINCK passes through editorial review before it appears. In the course of preparing and reviewing a piece, our editors and contributors use a range of professional editorial, research and publishing tools. Editorial responsibility for everything we publish rests with THINCK Media.

Columns, Commentary and Satire

Alongside reporting, THINCK publishes columns of opinion, comment and satire. Several of our columns — including Kannasum Kadalasum, Dasanum Vijayanum and Mallanum Maathevanum — are works of satire and imagined dialogue that use fictional characters, exaggeration and humour to comment on public affairs. They are not literal statements of fact and are not intended to be read as reporting. Our Terms of Use set this out in full.

Opinion and commentary represent the honestly held views of the contributor writing them and do not necessarily reflect the position of THINCK Media. Some of our columnists write under established pen names, as has long been customary in Malayalam journalism.

Corrections

We are committed to accuracy, and when we make mistakes we correct them promptly and openly:

• Corrections are published on the article, with a note explaining what changed
• Significant corrections are noted at the top of the article
• Minor corrections to spelling and grammar may be made without a formal notice
• We do not delete published articles without a clear editorial reason; a retracted article carries a retraction notice

THINCK is not affiliated with any government body, political party or commercial interest. Editorial decisions are made independently by our editorial team.
