• Your email address, and any name you provide, if you subscribe to our newsletter
• Anything you choose to include when you write to us
• Anything you submit through a form on the Site, including any files you attach

Like most publishers, we and the providers we work with collect standard technical and usage information when you visit, including:

• IP address and approximate location derived from it
• Browser, device, operating system and display characteristics
• Pages viewed, referring page, time on page and other page-interaction and engagement signals
• Identifiers stored on your device that distinguish one browser or session from another

We use industry-standard analytics and product-measurement tooling of the kind used across the web to understand how our pages are read and to improve them. This is measured in aggregate to inform editorial and product decisions.

We and our providers use cookies, device and browser storage, and similar technologies for the operation of the Site, for measurement, and for advertising. These include cookies and identifiers set by us and by third parties.

We do not sell personal information. Where advertising on the Site is personalised, information may be shared with advertising partners for that purpose, and you can opt out of this using the consent controls on the Site or your browser and device settings.

4. Advertising

The Site carries advertising served by third parties, who may use cookies and device identifiers to select and measure the advertising you see, including on the basis of your activity over time and across sites.

Where you are in a place whose law requires your consent before this happens, we ask for it before it happens, and you can withdraw it at any time using the consent controls on the Site.

5. Your Choices and Consent

Where the law requires consent for cookies, similar technologies or personalised advertising, we ask for it through the consent notice shown on the Site, and you can review or change your choices at any time through the same controls. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send you, or by writing to us.

6. Where Information Is Handled

We and our providers operate internationally, and information may be handled in, or accessible from, countries other than the one you are in — including Canada, the United States, the European Economic Area and India. Where information moves across borders we take the steps required by applicable law to protect it.

7. How Long We Keep It

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe. Technical and security logs are kept for a limited period. Measurement and analytics information is kept in aggregated or pseudonymised form for as long as it remains useful for the purposes described above, and otherwise in line with the retention settings of the providers listed in section 3.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how it is used, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority.

If you are in California, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising; we do not sell personal information, and you can exercise the opt-out through the consent controls on the Site. To make any request, write to editorial@thinck.org. We may need to verify your identity before we act.

9. Children

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly use information about anyone under 18 for tracking or personalised advertising. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to editorial@thinck.org and we will delete it.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No website or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
